2. What data do we collect?

• Account data: name and email address via Google Sign-In
• Location data: your GPS location when you register a cat or add an observation. We do not store continuous location history.
• Photos: photos you upload of cats, stored in our secure cloud storage.
• Usage data: cats you've registered, observations and ratings you've added.
• Device data: push notification token for sending alerts (optional).

3. Why do we use your data?

• Displaying cats on the map for other users
• Sending push notifications about followed cats or cats near you (only with your permission)
• Tracking your contributions and badges in the app
• Improving the app based on usage

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

• Consent: for location data, camera access and push notifications
• Contract performance: for delivering app functionality
• Legitimate interest: for improving the app

5. Sharing data with third parties

We do not share personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. We use the following services:

• Google Firebase: data storage and authentication (EU region where possible)
• Google Sign-In: for logging in with your Google account
• Expo: for building and distributing the app

6. How long do we retain your data?

We retain your data as long as you have an active account. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Registered cats may remain anonymously as part of the community database, unless you specifically request removal of all content.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

• Access: you can request an overview of the data we hold about you
• Correction: you can have incorrect data corrected
• Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated data
• Objection: you can object to certain processing activities
• Portability: you can request your data in a readable format

8. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to secure your data. Data is encrypted in storage and transmitted via HTTPS. Access to the database is restricted to authorised persons.

9. Cookies

CatRadar is a mobile app and does not use cookies. The website catradar.app does not use tracking or analytical cookies.

10. Children

CatRadar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us.

11. Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or email.
